Introducing Rhythmic Gymnastics

Introducing myself

In this first post,I would like to say a bit about me and a bit about my favourire sport to watch Rhythmic Gymnastics (RG)
Firtsly my name is Desislava Petrova and I am originally from Bulgaria. My interest for gymnastics comes from my country ,where this sport is generally popular.I do not remember when I actually fell in love with this beautiful sport but it is probablly  from when I remember myself.I really find somthing magical in this sport that keeps me interested and I have decided to dedicate this blog on somthing that I admire and consider worth talking about. For those who don`t know anything about this type of gymnastics I have tried to describe it underneath as best as possible and give a few historical facts about the Ryhthmic Gymnastics(RG)
I hope you enjoy reading it.

The first thing that comes to our mind when we hear gymnastics is the general sport gymnastics where men and women perform on vault, parallel bars, beam and so on. How about Rhythmic Gymnastics?
Rhythmic Gymnastics is the beauty of the sport. It is combination of gymnastics, dance, ballet with music and passion. It can be seen in individual performances as well as group of five. This type of gymnastics is only performed by girls.
There are five different apparatus that girls can perform with: ribbon, ball, clubs, rope and hoop. The group performance can be with two different apparatus, whereas the individual is with one only.
Rhythmic gymnastics also requires flexibilities, balance, pivots in a combination of choreography and music and artistic performance.

To craft so many areas of art, sport and dance girl need to start training between 3 and 6 years old. Latter on it gets more and more difficult for a girl to catch up.
Rhythmic Gymnastics` first competition was in Budapest in 1964.
From the start the dominance in that sport was in the hands of Eastern Europe. The constant battle for the 1st place was mostly seen between the Soviet Union and Bulgaria until the collapse of the Union in 1990.
Today`s Rhythmic Gymnastics exist and develops in many countries and continents although in some counties is underdeveloped and at a beginning level, however it`s popularity grows and expands.
Some of the counties with traditions in gymnastics are still on the world stage but new ones are emerging. The competition and the level of performance has grown and watching such a show is exiting and intriguing.
